Inspirational typographic calendar designs

So new year is almost upon us, and may it bring lots more design luck to you all. In preparation, I have compiled a selection of my favourite typographic calendars from previous years. Some of these are absolutely genious, hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Happy designing for 2010.

Gradient

This has become a bit of a classic now, so had to feature it really. Nice and simple, with the different colours representing the weather of the months. I also love the use of words which symbolize the months themselves on the cover.

Daylight hours

A lovely idea. A calendar that looks at the predicted hours of daylight and gives a comparison to 30 years ago.

Helvetica themed

Some lovely simple and elegant calendars in the ever present helvetica. I love the periodic table look in the second one.

Bodoni

Simple typographic route in this bodoni focused calendar. The emphasis is fully on the month name with the dates simply listed at the bottom of the page. Important dates are typeset in a larger font under the month name.

An apple a day

What a healthy concept, based around eating an apple everyday. The idea is that you take the apples circular sticker and place it on the day you are on. That way you can ensure your getting your daily dosage. Typographically its stunning with a thick rounded sans serif with just thin slits defining the detail.

Flickbook seasons

This is definitely one of my favourites. The idea being that the whole calendar is a flick book animation of a tree showing the leaves falling out depending on the season or month. It has a distinct Oriental feel about it with both the illustration and the typography.

Calendar style posters

Almost illuminous black and blue and also a preference for spiral designs. Very cool.

Sentence driven

Can’t quite work out this one, but know that I love its randomness. The month names hidden inside the seemingly random sentences. The design uses a thick, impactful serif font with each month in a different colour.

Hand stamped

This is a custom printed hand stamped calendar. The design and typography are lovely and simple, but the real seller is that each one is custom printed. So, if you have special dates or occasions, you can ask for them to be printed in red. Effectively its a calendar design specifically for whoever customs it.
